One Year: Nuler on Celebrities

Remember when Brittany Spears had reached her melting point and began oozing into our living rooms with her mysterious and well documented behavior? Remember how the media spoke of her as though she were a natural disaster and not a human being? Remember how out of the ashes of burning Brittany, there came a sharp backlash from her supporters towards the media? Remember how the media got quiet about her after that?

Well this poem was inspired by all of that.

From A Crime And A Simplification Of Something Sublime:

Perhaps It Is Far More Easier Than We Thought To Slip Down The Long Dewy Grassy Hill That Leads To The Valley Of Public Self Destruction When All Lenses Turn You On Then Turn On You

Honey!
Fight!

One Year: In the Libraries

Last year we were able to get a copy of A Crime And A Simplification Of Something Sublime into several libraries including the Yale Library. I was so crazy with excitement over it. As happy as I am about that type of exposure, we still have several libraries to go. If you’d like to see A Crime And A Simplification Of Something Sublime in your local library just let me know and I’ll put my forth my best efforts to get it in. Oh yeah, and pick up your own copy as well. It’s important to support artists.

From A Crime And A Simplification Of Something Sublime:

Music Has Often Brought Me To Tears In This Congested World, Swirling Rapidly In The Ice Cold Waters Of Sympathetic Lyrics And The Tragically Agonizing Sweetness Of The Music, Where The Musicians Never Even Heard of You or Your Problems

One Year: Nuler by LB Lacey

This nuler poem was written by LB Lacey in response to national news out of the Detroit area, after a quarrel between an ambitious business woman, mother of two, and her media-ham, attention-seeking husband.

From A Crime And A Simplification Of Something Sublime:

It's Holy, It's Beautiful & Blessed to Be United in Wedded Bliss Sealed & Bedded w/ a Kiss While Vowing to Love Till Death Itself Dares Part the Exquisite Matrimony Bowing One Soul to the Other's Heart & Making Them Whole as the MAN Takes His wife Surely, Completely, Ever & for the Rest of Her Life

One Year: What is the definition of nuler?

Nuler (noo. LAYR): A dramatic form of contemporary poetry involving a reversal of traditional structure wherein a rhymed or unrhymed title is an integral component of the overall poetic piece. The title of the poem contains the greatest quantity of content and is strictly comprised of no more than one, usually quite lengthy sentence, which is starkly contrasted by the subsequent poem which is composed of eight words or less. The extreme length of the title characterizes the form and the movement of the nuler poem along with its linked-linear nature, which forces its overt length and weight upon the substantially shorter, ostensibly lighter poem beneath it. The poem component of the nuler, however, with brevity, density and substantiality resists disintegration or diminution through succinct core content and striking contrast to its formidable title with which the poem simultaneously and often ironically compliments by sagacious ignition of language and exposure of what lies beneath the surface value of words.

From A Crime And A Simplification of Something Sublime:

The Gray Day When A Middle Aged Woman Walked By My Car With Her Frumpy Friend In A Shopping Plaza Parking Lot Wearing Tennis Shoes, Velour Pants, And A Bright Fuchsia Jacket And I Couldn’t Tell If Her Stroll Was Meant To Be Sexy Or If There Was Something Wrong With Her Hip

One Year Anniversary of “A Crime…”

This month marks the one year anniversary of the publication of our book, A Crime And A Simplification Of Something Sublime. Can you believe it? Yeah, me either! So I decided to try something different this week. For those of you have not had the opportunity to dive into the book, and experience nuler poetry for yourself (yet), I’ll allow you to sample what it actually looks and feels like here.

If you are inclined, you can create one yourself and post it here…fresh and new for the entire world to see. We are celebrating one year of a brand new type of poetry coming into existence. This should not be taken so lightly. It really is amazing.

From A Crime And A Simplification Of Something Sublime:

She Stealthily Stalks Him While Hiding Behind The Tall Grasses Of Pretentiousness And Waits For The Perfect Opportunity To Sink Her Flesh Ripping Teeth Into Him Like A Cheetah, Without Ever Realizing What She Has Become
